How to clean an air filter (K&N)
Tools and Items Required:
- Air filter cleaner
- Air filter oil (optional)
- Air compressor is kind of useful too but not required.
Time Required: Roughly 40 mins
Step 1:
Take out the air filter. How this is done will depend on your vehicle!
Step 2:
Bang out (gently) the filter first to get anything large out. After, spray with cleaner and let the filter sit for around 10 mins to loosen up the dirt.
Step 3:
Use a hose or something to pour cool water (not too high pressure) on the filter, make sure to be thorough here.
Step 4:
Let the air filter dry, you can use an air compressor to help.
Step 5:
If you want, spray the air filter oil on while trying to get an even red coating, but make sure the filter is dry first. Then let the filter sit for about 20 mins for the oil to wick (spread out over the filter).
You can spray again to get any spots you missed the first time. Otherwise you’re good to go!
