How to weld your rear differential
First you will need to verify what vehicle you have
and what model rear end you will be welding!
once you have figured that out you are now hopefully ready to start working
Video link at bottom of page aswell
step 1
put you vehicle on jack stands- supported safely
step 2
remove you rear drift cover- depending on make model, will determine how many bolts and what size
step 3
drain all oil out of the diff
let sit for a few minutes draining
then apply plenty on brake cleaner into the diff
spray it all down
apply lots of spray to the spider gears
Step 4
Pre-heat up your carrier and spiders gears with a torch
step 5
apply weld to the 4 corners where the spider gears meet each other
you can also weld the gears to the carrier for more strength
For more strength you can cut out a metal plate to fill in the gap in between the gears
step 6
after your welds have cooled down
start cleaning out the slag and debris
you can use more brake clean and compressed air to do this, a wire brush can help too
step 7
install or apply new gasket to diff cover
then reinstall cover
step 8
fill differential to recommend spec of gear oil
