How to remove the taillights from a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500
Hello people! Today we will be removing the taillights from a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500. These taillights are the bulb style, however they do come in an LED style as well! The reason for this job is if your bulbs are toast, or somebody got mad and busted your taillight.
Tools required
- T20 screwdriver or bit on a 3/8th drive
- New bulbs if you're so inclined
Removal
Step 1:
Remove the two t20's holding the taillight to the box. These are fastened into speed nuts that just slip on the plastic of the taillight, so don't use some kind of impact gun or something. These are not torqued to 183 foot-pounds.
Step 2:
After removing the two bolts, pull the tailight away from the vehicle in a linear motion. The tailight is held on by two tabs that slide into these groves. Do NOT try to pull it away from the body. It slides forward and backwards to install and remove.
Step 3:
Remove the bulbs. There is a handy arrow to show you which direction to turn (Pro tip, it's counter clockwise.) to remove the bulb and socket. Swap your bulbs and slap it all back together. Happy Wrenching!
